HP-Compaq has announced the price of its Pavilion series of laptops. Due to inflation, there is an increase in the price for this month. New models were introduced with pretty good configuration. The factory installed operating System is FreeDOS. You will have to install an operating system inorder to work in this machine. This machine is designed for Windows Vista. Drivers for Vista are given in the company's website. Installing Windows XP is not recommended as there is no guarantee that the drivers would work well with XP. If you have noticed a drastic slowdown in your DSL internet connection after you upgraded to Ubuntu Hardy Heron (Ubuntu 8.04) then it might not be that your ISP is entirely to blame. It could be settings on your PC that is slowing things down. We had a problem in our office where Ubuntu PCs were getting only around 80Kbps as opposed to 2Mbps from Windows machines. After troubleshooting and playing with some configuration parameters we got the Ubuntu Machines up to the same level as the Windows PCs

ASUSTek Computer Inc. launched much awaited models in the ultra-portable laptop catagory - ASUS Eee PC 900 series and 1000 series. These come with 80 GB of storage space, which will enable everyone to have lots and lots of storage area instead of 4GB and 8GB in the other Eee PC models. The 1000 series comes with a 10.2" widescreen display and the 900 series is fitted with a 8.9" Widescreen display when compared to the earlier models of Eee PC. We run apt-cacher to save bandwidth in our intranet. All Ubuntu systems in our office uses the apt-cacher server to update and upgrade. Recently we started getting the hash sum mismatch and size mismatch errors. After some dabbling with the settings and the files we figured out a simple solution for this problem.
